In celebration of the NBA’s golden anniversary, media members, former players and coaches, and current and former general managers selected the league’s “50 Greatest Players.” While little argument was made regarding the selections, the assembly spawned card and autograph sets, as well as artwork and lithographs. But none have reached the heights realized by this Field of Dreams limited edition (9/30) artist proof lithograph signed by (48) of the honored members. Framed to 46x32”, the composite likenesses are endorsed in graphite pencil. Signatures average (“9”) potency and include: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nate Archibald, Paul Arizin (d.2006), Charles Barkley, Rick Barry, Dave Bing, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain (d.1999), Bob Cousy, Dave Cowens, Billy Cunningham, Dave DuBusschere (d.2003), Clyde Drexler, Julius Erving, Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier, George Gervin, Hal Greer (d.2018), John Havlicek, Elvin Hayes, Magic Johnson, Sam Jones, Michael Jordan, Jerry Lucas, Karl Malone, Moses Malone, Kevin McHale, George Mikan (d.2005), Earl Monroe, Shaquille O’Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, Robert Parish, Bob Pettit, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Oscar Robertson, David Robinson, Bill Russell, Dolph Schayes (d.2015), Bill Sharman (d.2013), John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Nate Thurmond (d.2016), Wes Unseld, Bill Walton, Jerry West, Lenny Wilkens and James Worthy. The only unsigned image is that of Pete Maravich, who passed away in 1988 and was posthumously selected to the team. The piece is also signed by then-acting NBA Commissioner David Stern. Accompanying is a COA from Field of Dreams.
